Hey everyone. I need some honest advice. I'm in the final stretch of my dissertation (Biochemistry), and I am exhausted—mentally, emotionally, and every other kind of exhausted you can imagine.
My writing is usually solid, but right now, my drafts are a mess. I'm making silly grammar mistakes, my literature review feels disjointed, and I just don't have the energy to polish it to the standard my committee expects.
I'm seriously considering paying for a professional editing service specifically for my dissertation chapters. Not someone to write it for me, but to help with clarity, formatting, and language. But I feel so guilty, like I'm cheating or taking a shortcut. Is this a normal part of the process for some people? Have any of you paid for dissertation editing or proofreading, and if so, how did you find a legitimate service without getting scammed? I could really use some positive stories or guidance right now.
