Why are dissertations so hard to write? It's not just me, right? 💀

The Tuskegee guide says dissertations are "one of the most difficult research papers to write, involving much of a student's time, focus, and energy" . That's comforting to hear — it's not just me struggling.

They also point out that while dissertations "follow the basics of a research paper," they have "areas that regular research papers don't" . That's definitely true. The scope, the depth, the original research requirement — it's a whole different level.

The guide also has resources on "Active Vs. Passive Voice" and links to the Purdue OWL for more help . Apparently too much passive voice can "cloud the meaning of your sentences" even in scientific writing .

For other dissertators: what's the hardest part for you? The research? The writing? The motivation? ☕
