I'm ABD (All But Dissertation), and I've finally finished drafting my thesis. Hooray, right? Wrong. Now I have to deal with the formatting hell that is my university's graduate school guidelines. Margins, fonts, heading styles, table of contents formatting, citing in... is it APA 7th or the older one? My committee can't even agree.

I'm at the point where I'm willing to pay someone just to make the document look right. I'm not talking about changing any content, just the layout.

Has anyone used a dissertation formatting service? I'm not looking for the expensive "consulting" packages that cost a fortune, just a reliable editor who knows their way around Word styles and citation managers. I need a recommendation before I throw my laptop out the window. Please tell me I'm not the only one who finds this harder than the actual research!

ViVi, before you pay anyone: check if your university offers formatting help for free. My grad school has a "thesis formatting office" where literally you can email them your document and they'll tell you what's wrong. Free. Saved my life. Also, some libraries have workshops. Don't spend money until you've exhausted free options! But if you must pay, Scribbr does good formatting work apparently.
